Since at least the 1900’s, French ceramics companies have been offering hundreds of options for permanent flowers at the graveside. At the cemetery in Ferney-Voltaire, many of them have survived the elements exceptionally well. They are shiny and sweet, and sometimes surprisingly intricate, but the most beautiful ones to me are the ones touched by the weather, missing a petal here or there.

Les souvenirs sont très belles. Je ne vois jamais pas les souvenirs. J’éspère avoir les fleurs d’à côté ma cimetière, mais quelle fleurs? Les muguets, peut-être, c’est la fleur d’anniversaire.
