Not only did I learn that the history of Thoiry features a restaurant where Einstein and Marie Curie dined, a hotel where presidents tried to stop wars and a fresh water washing hole where women gossiped (named the Basin of the Viper Tongue), but Thoiry memorialized this place, where they killed locally operating Gestapo agents. This plaque was not on the 5th grade walking tour.
